Search engine optimisation
Did you know that Tim Bernes-Lee the founder of the
internet originally intended for documents to link from one to another in order for scientists, researchers
and academics to find information easily. This is the basis of the internet even today. We at LeaderPage recognise
the importance of links and we encourage you to actively create links to this site and we will link to yours too.
How to make an effective link campaign :
1. Keywords
This is the holy grail of it all. In between your anchor tags keyword
always place a keyword that best describes the site you are linking to.
As an example a link to
a site that specialises on celebrity photos might look like this:
visit photos for more.
The keyword there is photos.
Another link to a site on video sharing will probably look like this:
visit video sharing for more.
the keyword phrase here is video sharing.
2. Relevance
The leading search engine Google rewards you for creating relevant links. Try to direct your
visitors to a site that has something in common with yours.
Example of a good link :
A property listing website linking to a mortgage broker.
Example of a bad link :
A link from an airline booking site to a dog grooming site is obviously non-relevant.
3. Link to competitors
Some people are afraid of losing customers because of linking to competitors. You will be amazed
that you actually gain more by collaborative working because you also get visitors directed from them.
If you were to ask me, I would rather exchange links with a thousand competitors and get a slice
of their traffic than be a one man band. Remember, a site with no link at all is just a useless
file cabinet on someone's server.
